Agents in South Australia's South East say more than half of their recent property sales have gone to Victorian buyers. Mount Gambier director Jason Malseed said such sales were rare 15 to 20 years ago. He linked the rise to frustration with the Victorian government, including its land taxes. Ray White Mount Gambier principal Tahlia Gabrielli said retirees make up most Victorian arrivals. A recent survey ranked the Victorian Labor Party as the worst state government in the country.
Real estate agent Emil Juresic and his partner Giselle Kramer have signed a lease for a four-storey space at the Oracle precinct in Broadbeach. The site was previously home to the Change gym, whose founder Peter Haselhurst is on bail facing extortion charges he has not yet answered. Stage one, a gym, pilates studio and recovery facilities, is set to open on December 1. A vertical expansion planned for 2027 will add a medical recovery suite, a rooftop pool and other facilities. Level X memberships start at $99 a week for select classes.
Long-held Australian properties are reaching the market for the first time in decades as senior owners sell or pass homes to family. Raine & Horne Group executive chairman Angus Raine said intergenerational wealth transfer is creating rare buying opportunities. In Adelaide, a 92-year-old woman's Devon Park home sold at auction this month. A Parafield Gardens property on a 2313sqm block was listed for the first time in more than 60 years. Two country estates in NSW, owned by one family for over 30 years, have also been listed for sale.

A 1920s home at 21 Errington Avenue, New Lambton, is listed with a price guide of $1,810,000. The five-bedroom residence keeps its period features, including 12-foot ceilings and Ironbark hardwood floors, and has been expanded over two levels. A modern kitchen, a main suite with an en suite, and a sheltered outdoor terrace are included. A separate outbuilding holds two garages, a workshop and a self-contained granny flat. Real estate professionals Peter and Liza Conaghan have launched their own independent agency, Local Properties Australia, alongside sales agent Ethan Johnston. The business will focus mainly on its local region, drawing on the team's knowledge of local properties, communities and the market. Peter said the team is excited by growth across the Scenic Rim, pointing to new housing, businesses and services. He said patience and sensible pricing can be important when a property does not sell quickly. The agency combines the couple's experience in sales, marketing, negotiation and client care.
A renovated home at 21 Lascelles Avenue, Manifold Heights, is on the market for $2 million to $2.2 million. McGrath agent Georgie Shaw says the outdoor space is a key drawcard, including a playground, swimming pool, covered deck with a built-in barbecue and outdoor fireplace. The red clinker brick home has a renovated kitchen, bathrooms and plantation shutters. A former games room has been enclosed to create a multipurpose pool house or extra living space. Shaw says the vendors, who are moving to acreage, have added extras that make it a ready-to-move-in home.
A triple-brick home in Northcote, with a separate apartment, passed in at auction on a vendor bid of $1.7 million, below its $1.8 million reserve. The property is now listed for private sale at $1.775 million. Meanwhile, a fully renovated art deco home in Fitzroy sold for $1.531 million, above its $1.35 million reserve, to a first-home buyer. In Essendon, a four-bedroom home sold for $2.285 million, above its $1.95 million reserve, to a young family.
Former investment banker Peter Hunt and his wife Tania de Jong, a soprano and social entrepreneur, have relisted their five-bedroom Manly penthouse with a $35 million price guide, down $5 million from February. Hunt said the couple are selling because they now spend more time at their home near Byron Bay, adding that the apartment is special and unlikely to be matched. A sale at or above the guide would surpass the Manly suburb record of $34 million set in 2024. Hunt bought the beachfront unit for $12.2 million in 2010.
A three-bedroom terrace in Surry Hills sold for $1.945 million after a 53-bid auction battle, exceeding the seller’s minimum price by $145,000. Two main bidders, professional builders Lu Mi and Bing Lu, won the property, planning to renovate it. The home, last sold in 1994 for $295,000, attracted strong interest due to its unrenovated state and prime location. The median property value in Surry Hills has fallen 11.2 per cent in the last year.
Real estate figure John McGrath says the big city property markets are close to the bottom after a sharp fall in values. In his McGrath Report 2027, he names 40 suburbs he expects to grow over the year ahead across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania. Picks include Campsie, Narooma, Sunshine, Mildura, Beenleigh, Maryborough, Chigwell and Mayfield. McGrath says most big metropolitan markets are down 10 to 15 per cent over the past six months, with some down 20 per cent.

A South Australian parliamentary inquiry has heard that some real estate agents use computer programs to screen rental applications before tenants can inspect a property. Flinders University associate professor Selina Tually told the inquiry the programs assess income, family circumstances and cultural background. Some applicants have reportedly been asked whether they identify as Aboriginal or have children. Inquiry chair and Greens MP Robert Simms said the practice was deeply concerning. The inquiry will also examine underquoting, rent bidding and building fault disclosure. The Real Estate Institute of SA said it supports evidence-based scrutiny of the sector.

NBA star LeBron James has lived in several US cities during his career. He mainly lives in Los Angeles, where he moved after signing with the Lakers in 2018. James also owns a 30,000-square-foot mansion in his hometown of Akron, Ohio, valued at around $10 million. After joining the Philadelphia 76ers, he has reportedly been living in New York and commuting to games by helicopter. He previously lived in Miami, where he bought a condo in 2022.
