Meet the Moruya cafe going the extra mile for the perfect cup

Moruya cafe owner Sam Steiner entered the coffee industry in 2011 and has since built direct relationships with growers in Central and South America and the Philippines. His team raised funds and partnered with another business to build a new drying shelter for Colombian farmer Diofanor Ruiz, allowing him to process more beans naturally. Steiner says better coffee brings better prices, higher wages and wider community benefits. Alfresco Coffee now employs up to 34 people across its two cafes and roastery on the South Coast.

Rebadged and revised: Broulee Road subdivision for 685 lots

Developer Brightway has revised its Broulee subdivision proposal, now for 685 lots, after feedback from the community, Council and State agencies. The plan has fewer homes than the original 800-dwelling scheme, a maximum building height of 8.5 metres and an overall density of about six dwellings per hectare. About 30.8 hectares would become environmental conservation land, including a coastal wetland, with a further 19.7 hectares of public recreation land. A 9.3 km network of walking and cycling trails would link the community to Broulee village, beaches and schools.
