Mitsubishi lays out Australian demands for new Pajero

Mitsubishi Australia says it pressed its parent company for specific features on the fifth-generation Pajero during development. Product strategy manager Rod Pinedo said the local division sought wider cabin space and relocated child restraint top-tether points, which now sit on the second-row seatbacks. The new model is 110mm wider than the Pajero Sport. Ride and handling were also tuned with Australian input. The Pajero is due in showrooms in December 2026, priced from $68,490 before on-road costs.

Honda to enter ute market with rebadged Mitsubishi Triton

Honda has confirmed it is working with Mitsubishi on a new ute based on the Triton, to be sold across the ASEAN region in 2028. The two automakers signed a memorandum of understanding, with Mitsubishi to supply the vehicles from its factory in Laem Chabang, Thailand. The new model's name has not yet been announced. Honda's ute is expected to differ only slightly from the Triton, with changes likely limited to the grille, bumpers, badging and possibly lights. The deal follows Honda's failed merger with Nissan.

Mitsubishi open to more Foxtron EVs, but not yet

Mitsubishi Australia says it will focus only on the ASX VR-e, its first electric vehicle in nearly 15 years, built with Taiwanese manufacturer Foxtron. Chief executive Shunichi Kihara said further work depends on how well the VR-e performs locally. The vehicle will come in LS, Aspire, Exceed and GSR grades. Rear-wheel drive versions produce 171kW and claim a 0-100km/h time of 6.8 seconds, while the GSR's all-wheel drive system claims 3.9 seconds. Pricing is expected in the coming weeks.
