End of Aaron Glenn? Why Jets' loss to winless Dolphins should be final straw for head coach

The New York Jets lost 28-25 at home to the winless Miami Dolphins, a result that has raised questions about head coach Aaron Glenn's future. The Jets had been competitive early in the season, but the defence looked unprepared against a Dolphins offence missing De'Von Achane. Critics point to Glenn's record in late-half situations and his 0-8 mark against AFC East opponents.

Two Strikes In Two Months: USYD Staff Demand AI Safeguards & Better Pay

University of Sydney staff are striking on Thursday, 22 October, over pay, job security and protections on the use of artificial intelligence. The strike is led by the university branch of the National Tertiary Education Union, which is seeking changes to its enterprise agreement. Strikers will picket the Main Gate on Parramatta Road. The university says most classes will run online and that it is encouraging staff and students to work or study from home where possible. A few labs may be cancelled. The university says it will not change how it negotiates in response to the strike.

Dan Quinn replacements: Ranking 7 best candidates if Commanders move on from coach

Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn's job security is under serious pressure in his third season after a 6-15-1 record since his first year, when the team went 12-5. A blown overtime win over the Giants in Week 5 has added to the strain, and Quinn needs quick improvement to extend his term. Owner Josh Harris could look for a new head coach, and an analysis ranks seven candidates. The list includes offensive coordinator David Blough, who is 31 and a former backup quarterback, and Rams coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.

If you're feeling burnt out, research suggests your surroundings might be to blame

More than one in three Australian workers are experiencing burnout, according to a new survey. The State of Workplace Burnout Report found that workers in workplaces with high levels of system friction were far more likely to be affected. Study author John Chan said the survey sought to identify differences between organisations with very low and very high burnout rates. Experts say poorly designed systems, bureaucracy, pointless meetings and job insecurity are among the factors linked to burnout.

Commonwealth Bank refuses to guarantee jobs against AI as 1000 workers axed

Commonwealth Bank has declined to promise staff that artificial intelligence will not take their jobs. Chair Paul O'Malley faced questions at the annual general meeting about nearly 1000 staff affected by restructures, automation and technology changes over the year. Around 500 of them were redeployed to other roles. Chief executive Matt Comyn said AI could be the most significant technology shift the company has seen. The bank also agreed a deal with the Finance Sector Union giving its lowest-paid workers a 13 per cent pay rise over three years.
