A Dating App Is Offering ‘Chivalry Mode’ and ‘Marriage Timeline’ to Get Gen Z Married

Christian dating app Upward has relaunched to appeal to Gen Z singles who want to marry, even if they do not lead with faith. The company says the pivot is based on Match Group survey data showing that 72 percent of Gen Zs want to marry. New features include Chivalry Mode, which encourages men to message first, and Marriage Timeline, which lets users share when they hope to wed. Relationship researcher Daniel Cox says young people are not returning to traditional norms en masse, and some users have criticised the change.

How to recognise a property scam

A California man has pleaded not guilty in federal court in Portland, Oregon, to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors allege Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, posed as a wealthy Swiss real estate investor and a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver to win women's trust through dating apps. They claim he persuaded at least 26 victims to hand over about $US1.3 million for fake investments. Prosecutors allege his co-conspirator, Taylor Jamie Chan, posed as his financial adviser. Love will remain in custody until his trial begins on December 15.

Super Scam Me documentary shows what it takes to catch a romance scammer

Investigative journalist Mariana van Zeller's documentary Super Scam Me explores how romance scams blur the line between love and fraud. The programme premieres on National Geographic and streams on Disney+ and Hulu. To expose a fake Jon Bon Jovi account, van Zeller worked with an ethical hacker who used a fake bitcoin receipt. She also posed as a target, hooking a scammer who claimed to be a military general, and tracked him down using flyers. The Federal Trade Commission says romance scams cost Americans nearly $1.5 billion each year.
