Wollongong Pet Connection has named Tommy and Brock as its pets of the week, both seeking forever homes. Tommy is a two-year-old cat who is wary of people and needs a patient family to let him progress at his own pace. Brock is a five-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier cross who loves human company, long walks and time with other dogs. He has some fear of being confined in garages or rooms with closed doors. Interested adopters can apply through the Wollongong City Council website, and a council officer will arrange a meet and greet.
Melbourne woman Nicole Wade says her cat Honeybelle's social media pages have earned her $70,000 in a year. The page began during the pandemic lockdown, when Wade was out of work, and quickly gained thousands of followers. Brand deals followed, and Wade left her retail job to make cat content full time. Honeybelle now has nearly 1 million followers across several platforms. Wade and her husband Peter are also working on a cookbook.
A male grey cat was picked up on Walker Street, Cooktown, at 9am on Monday 12 October 2026. Its owner can collect it from council during business hours, with proof of ownership required.

RSPCA ACT is looking for patient, understanding homes for two animals in its care. Bella, a gentle dog who has lived with children, would suit a quiet home, such as a retired couple's. Hank, a cat who has been at the shelter for more than three months, is slowly gaining confidence. He is sharing a condo with another young cat, Freddy, and the pair are close. Animal viewing hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm.
A young, unneutered brown tabby cat was seized from Walker Street and is being held by the council. Owners must provide proof of ownership and contact the council during business hours to reclaim their pet.
