Residents invited to help form a Medowie Landcare group

Key points

• Residents of Medowie are being invited to help form a Landcare group to protect the bushland around the suburb. Organiser Dee Murdoch says growth in the area makes protecting natural spaces more important.
• An initial meeting is planned for Sunday, 18 October at 3pm to gauge interest and discuss forming a group under the Hunter Region Landcare Network.
• Possible early work includes weed control, rubbish clean-ups, and planting native vegetation for wildlife such as koalas and yellow-tailed black cockatoos.
