City of Palmerston has released the Palmy Youth Info Map, a pocket-sized guide for young people aged 12 to 25. The map lists 17 services across Palmerston and surrounding areas, covering activities, health and wellbeing, education, employment and emergency contacts. Parents, carers, friends and support workers can also use it to help young people find support. The map is available on the council website, with printed copies at Civic Plaza, Palmerston Recreation Centre and the City of Palmerston library.
An Indigenous youth organisation in the remote Western Australian town of Wyndham has stopped its services without warning. The Wyndham Aboriginal Youth Corporation ran a cafe, mechanic workshop, education programs and a safe night space for young people. Former chief executive Neville D'Silva says the National Indigenous Australians Agency did not pay funding due from July, leaving workers unpaid. The agency said it was continuing to engage with the organisation. The Department of Justice said it was exploring options to support continuity of youth services.
The Sunshine Youth Hub will hold its official opening on Friday, 30 October, from 6PM to 10PM at 10/17 Third Avenue, Sunshine. The free event will include food, music and activities. The hub aims to give young people a safe space to connect and access support. From its first day, it will offer counselling, cultural awareness sessions, youth employment services and study support. More programs will follow in coming months. The hub was made possible through support from the AusUnity Aid team.

Canberra youth mental health advocate Nomakhosi Khumalo is calling for more culturally sensitive mental health services. She says a counsellor once read her reluctance to make eye contact as rude, though in her African-Australian background it can show respect. Shortlisted for the 2026 ACT Mental Health Awards, she is helping design an ACT aftercare service for young people who have experienced suicidal distress or attempted suicide. She wants services to ask whether young people feel safe, respected and understood. She also says young people should have a genuine say in decisions about their care.
