Somerset Regional Council has welcomed Queensland Government support for taskforce recommendations on depreciation costs for councils. Mayor Jason Wendt said the reforms recognise councils' long-term responsibility for community infrastructure. Upcoming council events include a free Somerset Farmers Dinner featuring Warren Davies on 12 November, a Community Development Conference on 7 November, and further Free Tree Days in Kilcoy and Esk. A wild dog baiting day is set for 9 November, and a First Aid for Seniors session is planned for 11 November.
Tenterfield will move to Level 2 (Moderate) water restrictions from Thursday, 27 August 2026. Tenterfield Shire Council has also issued traffic alerts for White Swamp Road, which is closed for pipe replacement, and Killarney Road, where culvert repairs are under way. The National Parks and Wildlife Service has started an aerial and ground baiting program to control wild dogs. Council has also announced the delivery of five new bridge projects across the shire.
AgForce South-East Queensland will hold its annual biosecurity forum on October 30 at Bethany, just outside Kingaroy. The all-day event brings together producers, researchers, contractors and government agencies. Topics include invasive weeds, wild dogs, feral pigs, deer, cattle ticks and buffalo flies. Speakers include national wild dog management coordinator Greg Mifsud and feral pig coordinator John Scriven. Tickets are free for AgForce members and can be booked online.
