The Victoria State Rose Garden at Werribee Park will mark its 40th anniversary on 9 November. A volunteer group saved the garden from being bulldozed in the early 1990s, when the state government agreed to continue work only if enough volunteers could maintain it. The supporters group was registered in 1993 and now has about 80 members, with more than 50 helping regularly. The garden holds more than 2000 rose varieties. A celebration is planned for Sunday 8 November, and entry is free.
Wyndham's Children's Week Picnic will return to Werribee Park in 2026. The free event runs from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 25 October and focuses on education and learning. Activities include a silent disco, walking tours, science experiments and interactive performances, along with food trucks and market stalls. Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw said the event gives children the chance to try new things. A sensory and quiet space will be available for anyone needing a break. Tickets are required and are selling quickly.
Upgrades have begun at Werribee South Beach as part of the Werribee South Beach Masterplan. The $4.6 million project includes an upgraded Wyndham Bay Trail, a new wetland deck overlooking the Grahams Wetland Reserve, wildlife-friendly solar lighting and coastal planting. Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw said the works aim to improve accessibility, safety and amenity. Further stages are planned under the Wyndham Coastal and Marine Management Plan. The project is backed by $1 million from the Victorian Government's Growing Suburbs Fund and $150,000 from the DEECA Coastal Public Access and Risk Grant Program.

Brodie Kostecki won his second Bathurst 1000 after race leader Anton De Pasquale ran out of fuel on the final lap. Chaz Mostert had crashed into the wall five laps earlier, opening the way for Kostecki. Team boss Adrian Burgess said the fuel calculations contained an error. Will Brown and Scott Pye finished second, while Zach Bates and Aaron Seton took third. Kostecki and co-driver Todd Hazelwood crossed the line in tears.
Volunteers who maintain Werribee's Victoria State Rose Garden will receive a $220,000 upgrade to their volunteer shed, Point Cook Labor MP Mathew Hilakari has announced. The state government is funding the work through its Better Community Facilities Program to replace the ageing shed. Planned improvements include new flooring, heating and cooling, extra storage, water tanks, solar panels, a new toilet, better security and an all-abilities access path. The garden, based at Werribee Park, covers about five hectares and holds more than 5000 roses.
