A six-bedroom home at 15 Freemans Rd, Mt Eliza, has sold for $12 million, close to the suburb's $12.4 million house price record. The sale was the biggest for a house in the suburb since 2017. The listing agent, Michelle Skoglund, called it a positive sign for The Block's House 1 renovation, which is set for auction this weekend. The property sits on 3502 square metres, with about 73 metres fronting Port Phillip Bay. Mr Cooley, a well-known auctioneer, will sell House 1 on the agent's behalf.
John McGrath has named Geelong's North Shore among its regional Victorian markets set for growth in the year ahead, according to its annual McGrath Report. The suburb's median house price is $770,000, and waterfront homes on The Esplanade have sold for a median of more than $1.3 million. Agents say the suburb is quieter than other Geelong waterfront areas and has a relatively low number of homes. McGrath also picked Jan Juc on the Surf Coast, where the median house price is $1.35 million after 8 per cent growth over the past year.

The owner of Akuna, a Point Piper waterfront home in Sydney, has listed it for $55 million. He bought the property for $60 million three years ago. The home has a rare Chinese-style boathouse, a deepwater jetty and a harbourside pool. Agent Steven Chen says the owner is realistic about the price. The house has five bedrooms, a 758 square metre block and approved plans for an extra level and a lift.
A waterfront property at 46 Markeri Street in Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast sold at auction for $2.648 million. Three bidders competed for the five-bedroom home, which had been owned by the same family for three decades. Agents said the house was dated and had termite and mould damage, and it was marketed as a renovation project. A local buyer from the agency's database secured the property. The agents said the result showed confidence in the local market, with a typical Mermaid Waters house now costing $2.4 million.
Six design teams have been shortlisted for an international competition to transform Bays West into Sydney's newest waterfront suburb. The plan includes 8,500 new homes and a harbour foreshore open to the public for the first time in more than 100 years. Each shortlisted team will develop an Urban Framework for the site, with designs expected to be publicly exhibited in early 2027. Community members and Greens MP Kobi Shetty have criticised the process, arguing that the plan lacks proper consultation and enough public and social housing.
Megara's Serai development in North Fremantle is now selling its final release of newly completed homes. The project includes 87 apartments and 11 townhouses, with two-bedroom residences starting from $1.495 million. Megara director Jamie Clarke says buyers can now inspect finished homes and amenities in person. Realestate.com.au data shows North Fremantle's median unit price reached $1.375 million over the 12 months to August 2026, up 18.6 per cent.
A Sydney waterfront home once admired by Elton John is being quietly marketed with a $130 million price guide through Forbes Global Properties. Elton John named the Point Piper property the Bang & Olufsen House because of its tinted glass and flat roof. He made an $11 million offer in the 1980s but later withdrew it. The house was bought for $33.5 million in 2013 and is currently home to beauty entrepreneur Shelley Sullivan. If sold at the asking price, it would match the current Sydney house price record.
A proposed Hotel Indigo development on the former Gosford Public School site has drawn strong opposition. Critics say its scale is grossly inappropriate for the waterfront.
