The Sydney Sixers have launched their season at North Sydney Olympic Pool, marking the club's 15th anniversary. The side will play four home games at North Sydney Oval over the summer. The Summer Session and Community Round returns after last year's record crowd of 5,023 fans, with live entertainment and double-header matches. Captain Ash Gardner said the team hopes to turn North Sydney Oval into a fortress after struggling there for some time. The club is also visiting local schools, with a clinic planned at Neutral Bay Public School.
Ashleigh Gardner says the Sydney Sixers have one of their strongest lists in a long time as they aim to improve on last season's third-placed finish in WBBL|12. The club has a new head coach, Pete Clarke, who previously served as an assistant. Key additions include England batter Alice Capsey, Sophia Dunkley and wicketkeeper Maddy Darke, who replaces the retired Alyssa Healy. The Sixers lost a home semi-final to the Perth Scorchers last season but won the Spring Challenge.
Erin Burns top-scored with 41 and took 1-21 as the Sydney Sixers beat the Scorchers in the Spring Challenge final. The 38-year-old allrounder, returning from maternity leave, is preparing for her eighth season with the club. Burns said the Sixers have a strong team culture and a new coach, Peter Clarke, who replaces Matthew Mott. The Sixers have kept most of their core players and added Sarah Coyte and Maddy Darke ahead of WBBL|12.

Rachael Haynes will step down as Sydney Sixers general manager at the end of this month, as she and her family move to the United Kingdom. Hayden McIntosh has been appointed interim general manager for the coming WBBL and BBL seasons. Haynes said leading the club had been one of the great privileges of her career. During her tenure, the Sixers' women returned to the WBBL finals last season, and the men's team finished runners-up last summer. Recruitment for a permanent replacement will begin in early 2027.
Sydney Sixers have signed Western Australian off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli on a one-year deal for the Big Bash League. The 29-year-old, who last played in the tournament in 2023, will replace Todd Murphy, who joined Melbourne Stars after five seasons with the Sixers. Rocchiccioli said he was keen to contribute to a team chasing silverware. Sixers general manager Rachael Haynes described him as one of the standout spinners in domestic cricket. He joins Joel Davies as the club's only other regular spin-bowling option on the men's roster.
England allrounder Chris Jordan will return to the Sydney Sixers for the upcoming KFC BBL|16 season. The 37-year-old has played 65 matches since BBL|06 and now belongs to a rare group of players who have represented five clubs in the competition. Jordan said he was excited to return and looked forward to reconnecting with familiar faces. He is known for his death bowling, and his Hurricanes side won their first title after he conceded just seven runs in the final over of a 2025 Qualifier. The Sixers have also signed New Zealander Tim Seifert from the Renegades.
