A family is preparing to leave their Daisy Hill home at 11 Hillside Drive, a property the owner describes as a private resort. Owner Sophia says her children often spend afternoons in the lagoon-style pool and on the floodlit tennis court. The four-bedroom house sits on 2041 square metres and includes a studio, a fireplace and natural light. Business commitments have prompted the move. Sophia says her youngest children do not want the house sold and still hope to return one day.

Korumburra community members packed the Middle Hotel to show support for the town's outdoor pool and its future. Community organisers said a local company has approached South Gippsland Shire Council about buying the pool and running it as a community owned asset. Costings of $3.5 million for works were presented, far below the $18 million council has put on the work. Mayor Nathan Hersey encouraged residents to make submissions before feedback closes on Sunday December 6.
West Wimmera Shire Council has endorsed schematic designs for upgrades to the Goroke Swimming Centre, paving the way for future investment. Proposed works include a new changeroom and amenities building with family and group change options, first aid facilities and an accessible toilet with baby change and shower facilities. Other plans cover a pool entry ramp, wet deck, new pool plant and equipment, pathways, landscaping and shade structures. Council chief executive David Bezuidenhout said the endorsement is a key step towards securing funding.
Residents of Korumburra will get an update on the future of their 50-metre swimming pool at a community information night on Wednesday, October 21, from 7.30pm at the Middle Hotel. Organisers Bayley Nicholas and Dylan Muir say the session will cover recent findings, discussions and possible options. Attendees can ask questions and share ideas. The event follows a Poowong pool forum that drew more than 100 people. Council's Aquatics Options Paper, which does not rule out closing one or more of its six shire pools, is open for community feedback until December 6.
The Martin Carlson Foundation has put forward a three-stage redevelopment plan for the Korumburra outdoor pool, backed by local students. The plan would keep the existing 50-metre pool while adding facilities and jobs. The foundation is urging South Gippsland Shire Council to reverse the closure and provide emergency funding. Students say the pool provides swimming lessons, lifeguard training and first jobs for young people. South Gippsland Shire Council is consulting the community on the $78 million cost of running its six aquatic facilities over 15 years.
The Glenorchy War Memorial Pool has reopened following a $7.5 million refurbishment. Mayor Sue Hickey said the pool had been closed for repairs over the past three summers. The works repaired and repainted the pool shell, upgraded pipes, electrical and chemical dosing systems, and added an accessible entry ramp. Change rooms and bathrooms were also upgraded to be fully accessible. Hickey said the council will keep seeking support for a new aquatic centre, as the existing facility is more than 60 years old.
Goondiwindi Regional Council has completed about $30,000 in upgrades at the Texas Swimming Pool this week, marking the start of the new swim season. The works include changeroom improvements for both men and women, with new shower cubicles, privacy cubicles and ambulant style doors that improve accessibility. LED lighting has been installed in the changerooms, and hose reels and pipework upgrades will make the facility easier to maintain. Councillor Susie Kelly said the investment maintains a valued community asset, while Councillor Kym Skinner said the pool should be welcoming to all residents.
