Hoenig said the appointment was needed to restore the proper functioning of the council. Surfing World reports it followed a party after the Outerknown Tahiti Pro, involving a teenage Australian female surfer and at least three men. Australian and French Polynesian police are reportedly unclear over jurisdiction, and neither has confirmed the allegations.
