Students at Jerrabomberra High, in southern NSW, now have new hands-on learning facilities after a major expansion was completed ahead of schedule. The upgrade adds a two-storey building with 16 classrooms, a semi-commercial kitchen, a VET kitchen, a science laboratory and workshops. The school's capacity has risen to 1000 students. The expansion was an election commitment from NSW Labor, which had pledged to deliver it by 2026. Member for Monaro Steve Whan said the project had been delivered ahead of schedule.
An expansion to Cairns State Special School has been officially opened. Two new buildings and new outdoor learning spaces include therapy and sensory rooms, specialist equipment, a new playground and extra car parking. The school principal, Alicia Smith, said the facilities would let students keep learning tailored to their needs. Premier David Crisafulli said the government is delivering more special schools to give families more choice. Member for Mulgrave Terry James said the extra capacity would ease pressure from growing local enrolments.
Students at Jerrabomberra High School have started Term 4 of 2026 in new permanent classrooms and vocational education facilities. The NSW Government finished the expansion ahead of schedule. The project doubles the school's capacity to 1000 students and adds a dedicated kitchen for hospitality training. Other additions include a two-storey building with 16 classrooms, a timber workshop and a science laboratory. The expansion was a 2023 election promise. The government says the Monaro district is also receiving new education facilities, including Jindabyne Education Campus and Queanbeyan preschools.

Lane Cove Council has adopted new rules requiring developers to tidy demolished sites they do not build on. The move targets vacant lots in St Leonards, including the former Green Gourmet site on the Pacific Highway, which has sat fenced off for more than a year. Mayor Merri Southwood said the sites should be turfed and planted with a few bushes. The policy will also require developers to show how they will manage stormwater runoff from vacant sites. It will not apply retrospectively to the two St Leonards sites named.
