The home at 44 Hopetoun Avenue was built into Balmoral sandstone and has 750 square metres of internal living space on a 1094 square metre block. It includes a sauna, steam room, plunge tub, waterfall-edge pool, and private access to Chinaman's Beach. The house last sold in 2021 for $16.6 million. The agents are not offering a price guide and have pointed to recent nearby sales of $22.5 million, $25.5 million and $23 million.

The Sydney workshop where a 127-year-old lion is being made new

Sydney stonemason Luke McDermott is carving a new lion's head for a 127-year-old coat of arms at the former Darlinghurst Police Station. Erosion from air and rain has worn away the original face, so McDermott is working from old photographs of real and sandstone lions. NSW Heritage Stoneworks, based in Alexandria, maintains more than 800 state-owned heritage sites. The workshop also faces challenges attracting apprentices, with stonemasonry included on the federal Australian Apprenticeships Priority List. NSW Minister for Public Spaces Paul Scully says the work offers stable long-term employment.
