The Indianapolis Colts are open to trading any player before the November 20 NFL trade deadline, including star running back Jonathan Taylor. A combined ESPN and NFL Network report named four teams interested in acquiring him: the Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. The Broncos have a committee of running backs and could use a clear three-down option. The Vikings have shifted toward running the ball more often, which could suit Taylor. The Seahawks and Packers have other backs available, so a deal is less pressing for them.
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey left his team's game against the Atlanta Falcons in the first half after suffering a thigh injury. He had opened the game with 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries. The 49ers had listed him as questionable to return before he headed to the locker room. Kaelon Black took over most of the running back duties, producing 60 yards and a touchdown. McCaffrey has played in every game of the season so far.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker is on pace for a season that could challenge NFL records and put him in the MVP conversation. Running backs have won the award only 18 times in NFL history, and none since Adrian Peterson in 2012. Walker's current pace would give him 2,261 rushing yards and 2,584 yards from scrimmage, both all-time records. Voters have traditionally favoured quarterbacks, so Walker would need an overwhelmingly dominant season to win the award.

Running back Kenneth Walker III is leading the NFL in rushing yards after signing a three-year, $43 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Through five games, he has 665 rushing yards and a 6.3-yard average per carry. The Chiefs' rushing attack has moved from among the league's worst to second-best. Seattle has struggled on the ground since his departure, leaning heavily on quarterback Sam Darnold. The two teams meet in Week 7 on Sunday night.
Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady has warned running back James Cook that his fumbling must improve. Cook lost the ball in overtime against the Los Angeles Rams, setting up a potential loss. Brady said Cook has his full confidence but that consequences, including fewer carries, could follow if the turnovers continue. Cook has 11 fumbles since the 2025 season began, including two in the Rams game. Brady said turnovers are costing the team and must stop.
