Funds flow back to Colac

Residents in the Coragulac district are reportedly puzzled after a road was resurfaced roughly a year after it had been upgraded. Local people have expressed confusion over the decision, which they say came so soon after the earlier work. The headline indicates that funding is returning to Colac, though the available text offers little detail on the amounts or reasons behind the spending. Other local items listed on the page cover state election enrolment, a fundraiser and a trail anniversary, but none of these is explained in depth here.

District resident Greg Trotter says one section of Coragulac-Beeac Road has been fully resurfaced twice in 12 months. He says the work should have gone to other areas of the road instead.

Roadworks roll out across central Torquay

Surf Coast Shire has started a $755,000 road resurfacing program in central Torquay. Work on Fischer Street, between Beach Road and Zeally Bay Road, began on Monday and is due for completion in December, with traffic detours in place until then. Six streets are scheduled for upgrades in the 2026-27 financial year, including sections of Pearl Street, Bristol Road, Cliff Street, Walker Street and Boston Road. Councillor Phoebe Crockett said the works would improve driving and riding conditions and reduce maintenance costs, and acknowledged some disruption for road users.
