Melbourne families to Walk for Wings this EB Awareness Week

Melburnians are invited to join a Walk for Wings on Sunday 25 October in support of children and adults living with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic condition that makes skin extremely fragile. The walk is part of a national day of community walks run by DEBRA Australia during International EB Awareness Week, from 25 to 31 October. Comedian Daniel Connell, a DEBRA Ambassador, will join the Melbourne walkers. The group will meet at Royal Park Nature Play from 9am, with the walk starting at 9.30am. People unable to attend can join virtually or organise their own walk.

Gerringong man refuses to let rare cancer slow him down, tackling charity walk days after surgery

Gerringong man Alex Righton, 33, is living with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts. He was diagnosed after surgery for an unrelated gallbladder removal. His wife Kelly says little is known about the disease, and doctors often lack data to recommend treatments. The family is raising money for research through the 7 Bridges Walk, a 28 km Cancer Council event across Sydney bridges. They have raised more than $7500, beyond their $5000 goal.
