Haystack Mountain Hermits on a winning streak
Local family folk band Haystack Mountain Hermits has earned a finalist place for folk artist of the year in the Australian Folk Music Awards. Its EP, Homemade Jam, released on September 1, 2026, has seen three singles played on ABC radio. Money for Nothing reached number one on the Australian Country Radio chart and was a semi-finalist in the Americana category of the Unsigned Only Music Competition. Songwriter Kerrie Gambley said the recognition from peers shows the band is on the right track. The awards will be held in Melbourne on October 21.
