The City of Fremantle is preparing a replacement for its planning scheme, which dates from 2007. The new scheme will address housing, heritage, neighbourhood character and the activities allowed in different areas. The Planning Framework Committee reviewed and amended the draft Local Planning Scheme No. 5 on 19 October 2026. The City aims to present the draft to Council on 28 October 2026, followed by State review. Formal public consultation, a 90-day submission period, has not yet opened.
The City of Whittlesea has completed a review of its Planning Scheme, setting out five priorities to guide growth and development. The priorities cover modernising planning policy, improving neighbourhood design, aligning growth with infrastructure, strengthening environmental protections and recognising Traditional Owner values. Councillors endorsed the Planning Scheme Review Report on 20 October, and it will now be submitted to the Minister for Planning. Mayor Lawrie Cox said the review gives the city a clear roadmap for well-designed housing, jobs and sustainable neighbourhoods.
Mansfield Shire Council has thanked community groups and individuals who gave feedback on Planning Scheme Amendment C60mans, now closed. The proposed changes direct future development into Mansfield township and introduce neighbourhood character statements to protect both the township and outlying communities. Mayor Steve Rabie said the feedback will be carefully considered, and that the council wants to get the planning scheme right rather than rush it. Council is currently working through submissions and speaking with community members who provided feedback.

Logan City Council has endorsed changes to its flood portal, so residents will keep access to information about rare floods. Standard property reports and main maps will focus on one-in-100-year floods, while rarer events up to one-in-2000-year floods stay in detailed reports. Probable Maximum Flood mapping will be removed from the portal, property reports and planning scheme. The council has sent a proposed Temporary Local Planning Instrument to the Queensland Government for approval. Both changes are expected to take effect in early 2027.
