Appeals lodged over Macdonnell Road and Kidd Street proposals

Two appeals have been lodged with the Planning and Environment Court after Scenic Rim Regional Council refused developments for retirement facilities. The appeals concern proposals at 30 Kidd Street and 24-34 Macdonnell Road. LG Resorts, the appellant in the Kidd Street appeal, has also registered as co-respondent in the Macdonnell Road case. Former councillor Nigel Waistell says he will attend court in support of the council's refusal. He warns the developments would bring over 200 homes to the mountain and add pressure on medical services.

Developer Englobo puts outcomes based planning system to test in ACAT challenge

The developer behind the Gungahlin 2030 project will ask the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal to preserve proposed street changes. The Territory Planning Authority rejected traffic changes on Hinder Street and at the Ernest Kavanagh and Kate Crace streets intersection. Englobo Group lodged its challenge in July, and mediation was unsuccessful. A hearing is set for 3 November. Englobo argues the changes will benefit the whole town centre and should be approved under an outcomes-based planning system.
