Trio charged after 120kg of cocaine found in cabinets

Three people face potential life sentences over an alleged plot to import 120 kilograms of cocaine concealed in cabinets. Border officers flagged a consignment from Greece in October, and X-rays revealed 120 packages inside two cabinets declared as household furniture. Authorities conducted a controlled delivery to a storage facility in Essendon, where a 49-year-old Pascoe Vale woman allegedly coordinated the consignment. Two men, aged 31 and 40, were also arrested. The trio has been charged, and the two men were refused bail while the woman was granted conditional bail.

Socialist Alliance registered with VEC for Victorian elections

Socialist Alliance will appear on the ballot paper for the Victorian election on November 28, after its registration lapsed in 2019. Party candidate Sue Bolton said the party will run with its name and logo, promoting progressive, pro-worker policies. The party is fielding candidates in Melbourne's Northern Metropolitan Region and in Geelong, and is calling for public sector rebuilding and 100,000 new public houses. Candidate Sarah Hathway said the party gives workers an alternative to right-wing parties such as One Nation.
