Why this Geelong teenager believes AI can make life easier

A North Geelong Secondary College student is developing artificial intelligence systems to solve everyday problems, and he is entirely self-taught. Revant Pandey, 17, has been teaching himself to code since he was a young child. His largest project is a proof of concept that uses cameras to assess traffic and pedestrian activity, with the aim of adjusting traffic lights to ease congestion in Canberra. Revant believes people should keep control over AI and should continue building their own problem-solving skills.

North Geelong venue revitalisation more than just a coat of paint

A well-known North Geelong venue on the Princes Highway has been repainted bright red and renamed the Microkeeper Arena. The Geelong business-led refurbishment also includes new signage and repair works. Microkeeper, a Geelong workforce software company, carried out the work as its partnership with Geelong United Basketball grows. About 250,000 players and spectators use the arena each year. City of Greater Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said he hopes the venue will host music, karate, gymnastics and boxing events.
