About 400 guests attended the Nelson Bay Rock 'n' Roll Festival at Wests Nelson Bay Diggers on Saturday night. Running from 16 to 18 October, the weekend featured live bands, familiar songs and three dance floors. He said learning to jive is easy and pointed to Tuesday night lessons for beginners.

Nelson Bay FC juniors Elke Moltzen and Zoe Wild have been selected for the Newcastle Football Player Development Program. The 10-year-olds impressed selectors with their natural ability at two-day trials in Tarro. Both play for the Nelson Bay under-10 Blizzards under coach Shayne Foster, who said the pair have amazing talent. The girls now train twice a week with the program. Foster's daughter Malia was also selected but declined to focus on dance and athletics.
