Victoria's Labor government has pledged to cap road tolls at $30 a week throughout 2027 if it wins the November election. The $191 million policy would apply to cars, motorbikes and light commercial vehicles on CityLink, EastLink and the West Gate Tunnel. Premier Ben Carroll said the plan would reach about 200,000 account holders, twice as many as the coalition's $50-a-week proposal. Opposition Leader Jess Wilson criticised the timing, saying Labor had had 12 years to act. The coalition also reiterated plans to scrap Labor's ban on gas connections for new homes and businesses.
