The Meeniyan Marty Gras drew crowds to South Gippsland for its drag and rainbow-themed events under the theme Rainbow Country. The main night at the Meeniyan Town Hall was briefly disrupted by a hailstorm and a power cut, but a live band kept the party going. The festival raises funds for Opportunities of Development thru Art in Cambodia and the Gippsland Pride Initiative. Organisers say the event has grown since it began in 2018 and that close to 180 guests attended this year's main event.
Two free sessions for young children and their caregivers will be held at Meeniyan Hall on Wednesday 28 October as part of Children's Week. Little Kin Music with Strat and Lyndal is a 45-minute musical session for children aged 0 to 6 years, running from 10.30 to 11.15am.
A regional provenance brand called Gippsland Trusted will be officially launched on October 22 at Narkoojee Winery & Restaurant in Glengarry North. The program aims to connect consumers with clean, green and ethical Gippsland produce, and give producers new retail, corporate and export opportunities. Food & Fibre Gippsland's Rod Hayes raised the idea at a Meet the Makers session in Meeniyan, where panellists discussed local self-sufficiency and a possible community micro abattoir. The launch runs from 1pm to 4pm and is free to attend, with registration required.

Bass Coast and South Gippsland Shire Councils ran a Meet the Makers session at Trulli in Meeniyan on Tuesday, bringing producers and business operators together. Attendees said the event gave them a chance to build relationships and discuss ways to work together. U Goose, a Middle Tarwin paddock to plate business, was among the producers present, and its products are to be stocked at Burra Pantry and Larder. Other attendees said the event helped them learn about local products and explore possible joint tastings and new business opportunities.
