Three students at Medowie Christian School are reflecting on their final years of school as the Class of 2026 prepares to leave. Bethany says she has grown in confidence through leadership and public speaking, and is proud of helping start Salt and Light, a group where girls can share their experiences. Callum says he is proud of the person he has become, and urges others to commit fully to their goals. Annika, who moved from another country, says school taught her resilience and flexibility, and she expects to miss everyday moments with teachers and friends.
Close to 7,000 signatures have been collected in a renewed push to improve safety at two Pacific Highway intersections, with Bucketts Way and Medowie Road. Petition organiser Leah Veksins says the petition will stay open until it reaches 10,000 signatures. She describes it as the fourth petition seeking improvements, after earlier efforts in 1995, 2005 and 2015. While an overpass is among her preferred options, she is also open to traffic lights or stop controls. The petition asks governments and road authorities to work together on a redesign of both junctions.

Optus representative Glenn Hamilton said he would investigate reception problems raised by residents of The Cove but could not promise a new tower straight away.
Mackenzie Bohan, a 16-year-old goal defender from Medowie, has been named a Hunter Netball Rising Star. She has secured a spot in the Hunter Central Coast Heart Talented Athlete Immersion Program, which offers a pathway to Premier League. Bohan celebrated a decade with Medowie Netball Club by helping her team, Medowie Kaos, win the Maitland District Netball Association A2 premiership.
