Former investment banker Peter Hunt and his wife Tania de Jong, a soprano and social entrepreneur, have relisted their five-bedroom Manly penthouse with a $35 million price guide, down $5 million from February. Hunt said the couple are selling because they now spend more time at their home near Byron Bay, adding that the apartment is special and unlikely to be matched. A sale at or above the guide would surpass the Manly suburb record of $34 million set in 2024. Hunt bought the beachfront unit for $12.2 million in 2010.

Ray White chief economist Nerida Conisbee says the Gold Coast has become a buyers' market, though some pockets are still holding their value. She said four interest rate rises, the war in the Middle East and federal budget property tax reforms had overhauled the market. Gold Coast property values have dropped three per cent over the past year, but luxury prices in Broadbeach Waters are slightly up. Ms Conisbee spoke at the launch of 29 Namatjira Court, a luxury new build with 95 metres of river frontage that goes to auction on November 6.
