Adelaide businessman Rob Cammarano says organised crime figures are trying to force him out of Career Boss, a labour-hire firm recruiting workers for the $15.4 billion Torrens to Darlington project. He says his home was shot at and his businesses were targeted in arson attacks. Police taskforce Operation Endurance is investigating, with detectives believing those responsible took direction from senior underworld figures. The allegations were referred to the project team, which found no evidence of criminal involvement. The state's anti-corruption commission will evaluate the Infrastructure and Transport Department.
Former BHP Mt Arthur coal miner Simon Turner has pursued a compensation claim against BHP for about a decade. Records show concerns about his employment and compensation were raised with politicians and regulators over several years. A Sydney Morning Herald investigation found WorkPac recorded $48,000 in payments to One Nation in 2021-22. One Nation denies those payments influenced its vote on casual employment legislation in March 2021.
Federal and state regulators have inspected berry farms and labour hire businesses across the Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Valley regions. The two-day operation, known as Operation Brambles, targets suspected wage underpayments, unsafe conditions and unfair business practices. A 2025 report by the Fair Work Ombudsman found 61 per cent of employers assessed in the Coffs Harbour and Grafton region did not meet their obligations under the Fair Work Act. Regulators are investigating possible breaches, including illegal phoenix activity. No findings from the latest inspections have been released.

NSW Farmers says any state-based scheme must recognise inter-state licences and avoid unnecessary regulation. The warning follows the NSW Government's plan to introduce a labour hire licensing scheme if re-elected.
