John McGrath reveals top Sydney suburbs to buy into before property market rebound

Sydney property values have fallen for seven straight months, but property entrepreneur John McGrath says the market is nearing the end of its slide. In the annual McGrath Report, he said past corrections saw markets gain an average of 32 per cent in the three years that followed. Mr McGrath named Campsie as the top up-and-coming suburb in New South Wales, with Sandringham, Roseville Chase, Glebe and Wamberal also on his list. Trent Tarbey, of the McGrath Brighton-Le-Sands office, said blue chip suburbs such as Sandringham have been less affected because supply is scarce.

City Of Sydney Seeking Community Feedback On New Special Entertainment Precincts

The City of Sydney is seeking public feedback on proposed special entertainment precincts across the city. The plans would support live music, performance and dining venues into the night. Councils could set tailored sound management and trading hours, and eligible venues could get extended trading hours and liquor licence fee discounts. Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the precincts aim to keep Sydney a global city while protecting residents' quality of life. The plans are open for comment until 26 November, after which they will return to Council for final endorsement.

An Ode To Parramatta Road (Naked City)

Social researcher Heather L. Jones has published a new book, Parramatta Road: Dark Tales, Vanished Icons, History and Legend. The book traces the road from an ancient First Nations path to its role as a major commercial and entertainment strip. It covers motor dealerships, motor inns, rock pubs and milk bars that once lined the route. Jones says the book is partly a record of the road before planned development changes. She also revisits the 1975 disappearance of anti-development campaigner Juanita Nielsen, linking it to a Camperdown motel.

Calls For Community Consultation Over Bays West

Some Balmain-area residents have criticised the state government's plans for Bays West, urging more community consultation, while the authority overseeing the project says residents have ample opportunities to contribute. Plans include 7,000 to 8,500 homes, a Metro station due in 2032, and at least 10 per cent affordable or essential worker housing. A community meeting led by the Better Future Coalition rejected current proposals. Greens MP criticised the absence of public housing, while Inner West Council said it will push for a stronger affordable housing share.
