Ford Ranger and Everest recalled

Ford Australia is recalling 1085 Ford Ranger utes and Ford Everest SUVs. A manufacturing issue may cause the 10.1-inch centre display to go blank, so the rear-view image may not show while reversing. The official recall notice warns this could increase the risk of a serious or fatal accident involving people behind the vehicle. The affected vehicles are certain 2024 to 2026 model-year cars. Owners will be contacted in writing by Ford and asked to take their vehicle to an authorised dealer for a free fix.

Why has Ford built a softer version of its most rugged ute yet?

Ford has added a carpeted, leather-lined interior with heated and ventilated seats to its rugged Ranger Super Duty, creating the Super Duty XLT. The variant keeps the robust chassis and steel wheels of the standard model. Its V6 diesel engine has been detuned to 154kW, which the reviewer says makes it slow. The reviewer says the cabin is quieter and more comfortable, and that the vehicle suits private buyers who need towing and payload capability. The XLT badge does not appear on the vehicle.
