Hornsby Shire Councillor Jane Seaglove has urged residents to prepare for bushfire season by clearing gutters, managing vegetation and keeping hoses accessible. Council's Love Your Home video series offers energy-saving tips, including solar panels, insulation and rainwater collection. The Glenorie Village Investigation report is considering housing, services and village facilities, while Glenorie spans both Hornsby and The Hills Shires. Councillor Seaglove is also seeking community views on a possible shared footpath along Galston Road in Dural.
Children at Sandon Point Children’s Centre are campaigning for their local council to build a footpath on Point Street. Director Zarah Tonkin says the children made posters and plan to visit a nearby café once it is safe to walk there. A petition has gathered more than 800 signatures. Two city councillors support the idea, but say the project is costly because it needs retaining walls and competes with other projects for limited funding. Tonkin says the children are learning that their voices matter.
Police are investigating a serious crash on Club Drive in Shearwater on Sunday night. A vehicle mounted the footpath and struck diners seated outside Shearwater Food Co before hitting the building. A 26-year-old woman remains in a stable condition in Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries. A 29-year-old female staff member is also in a stable condition after being taken to North West Regional Hospital. Police have laid no charges and are asking anyone with information to call 131 444.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore has criticised a $22 million NSW Government plan to convert a southbound Botany Road lane in Waterloo into a morning peak bus lane. Moore argues the project would encroach on the footpath and tree canopy, and that road widening is being presented as a bus improvement. Transport for NSW says Botany Road is a key bus corridor and that the changes aim to ease congestion and improve bus reliability at the McEvoy Street intersection.
Preschoolers at Sandon Point Children’s Centre in Bulli are campaigning for a footpath along Point Street to improve safety and accessibility. The children, who currently take a longer route to the beach and local cafe due to the lack of safe footpath, have created flyers and posters to advocate for the change. A petition has already gained over 700 signatures, and the children hope to meet with Wollongong councillors to discuss the project.
