The Lilleyman family of Kambah has built a self-service micro-market at the front gate of their farm on Kambah Pool Road. The shop was installed in 2024 and is stocked daily with beef, eggs, microgreens and preserves. Guy Lilleyman says selling eggs directly, rather than at wholesale prices, has made the farm financially viable. The family is now seeking approval to run farm tours. The micro-market is open from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm every day of the year.
Spring lamb is at its most tender and best value in Australia. The Daylesford Meat Co. sources its lamb from its own farm, Green Hill, near Malmsbury, where flocks graze on rich pastures. The company recommends roasting a leg of lamb at 220°C for 20-30 minutes, then reducing the heat to 180°C for an hour, to achieve a crisp, golden skin and medium-rare internal temperature of 55-60°C. The lamb should rest for at least 15 minutes before carving and serving with roast vegetables and fresh peas.
After over a century of Walker family ownership, the 612.6-hectare Ledgworth property near Yass is up for sale. The land, initially gifted in 1910, has been home to three generations who expanded and maintained the homestead and surrounding farmland. Located just 35 kilometres from the ACT border, the property features arable land, pasture, and historic buildings. The Walkers cite practical reasons for selling, marking the end of an era for this iconic district property. Expressions of interest close on 29 October.
