NSW Parliament has amended legislation so One Nation can have its election promises costed by the independent Parliamentary Budget Office before the March 2027 election. Party leaders, including Pauline Hanson, can submit an unlimited number of policies for examination. Minor parties and eligible independent MPs can submit two each. The Parliamentary Budget Office will publish a budget impact statement on each party's policies before ballots open. Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said voters deserve to know the financial impact of election promises. Dr Michael Warlters has been appointed Parliamentary Budget Officer.
The opposition claims recipients of a $560 million infrastructure funding program were gagged by confidentiality clauses. The Senate is examining the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program, which included a $6 million grant to Marrickville Golf Club in Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's electorate. Good governance groups say the projects were selected without a proper merit-based process. The government says the scheme meets commitments made during the 2025 election campaign. Bureaucrats are due to appear before the committee on Thursday.
Labor has listed state election funding promises for Moorabool Shire. The party has committed $1 million to upgrade the oval at Gordon Recreation Reserve. It has also pledged $5.5 million for the Doing Up Darley program and $1.2 million for an athletics track at Masons Lane Reserve in Bacchus Marsh. The commitments were published on 20 October 2026 and are made on the basis that the party wins the election and forms government.

A re-elected Labor government has pledged $10.73 million for a new performing arts centre at Keilor Downs College. It has also pledged $1.9 million to begin upgrades at Sunshine North Primary School. At Keilor Downs College, the existing gymnasium would be converted into a performing arts centre with retractable seating and modern equipment. Education Minister Gabrielle Williams said the investment would give students access to quality local facilities. Both commitments depend on Labor being re-elected in November 2026.
