Wollongong Pet Connection has named Tommy and Brock as its pets of the week, both seeking forever homes. Tommy is a two-year-old cat who is wary of people and needs a patient family to let him progress at his own pace. Brock is a five-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier cross who loves human company, long walks and time with other dogs. He has some fear of being confined in garages or rooms with closed doors. Interested adopters can apply through the Wollongong City Council website, and a council officer will arrange a meet and greet.
The City of Stirling has postponed its Paw-some Day Out after canine parvovirus was detected in the community. The event was due to be held this Sunday at Grindleford Reserve in Balcatta, and the city called it one of its most anticipated community events. The city says the virus is highly contagious and potentially deadly, so postponing was the only responsible option. A new date has not yet been confirmed. Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital has introduced precautions, with vets assessing and testing dogs outside the clinic while wearing full protective equipment.

Animal viewing hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 3 pm.
