Download your free Christmas gift tag templates

Better Homes and Gardens has released free printable Christmas gift tag templates, available after readers fill out a form. The guide also suggests ways to personalise plain store-bought tags. Options include painting tags with acrylic paint, drawing small hats with a fine-tip marker, and adding pompoms, washi tape or stickers. It also suggests cutting custom shapes from cardstock and punching holes in cardstock strips to string tags together. Clay ornaments that recipients can reuse are another idea.

Christmas comes early for millions of Australians

New research from Christmas decor brand Balsam Hill says 8.8 million Australians are decorating for Christmas before December. More than half of people aged 18 to 44 decorate early, compared with under a third of those aged 65 and over. Lifestyle influencer Bronte Rose put up her tree in September and says decorating early gives her something joyful to look forward to. Online reaction to an early tree on The Today Show was mixed, with some users saying it was too soon and others saying the earlier the better.

Create a floral cake masterpiece using just a storebought mud cake

A floral cake masterpiece can be created using just a storebought mud cake and fresh flowers. The cake mimics a grassy hill filled with favourite flowers and is ready in four simple steps. Tips include wrapping flower stems in floral tape or using florist water tubes to prevent direct contact with the cake. Some flowers are toxic, so check before using them and ensure they don’t touch the food.
