Seventy-two sporting clubs across Queensland will share $30 million under the second round of the state government's Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program. The round will support sports including football, cricket, netball and gymnastics, funding new and upgraded courts, rooms, lighting and grandstands. The first recipient is the University of Queensland Football Club at Chapel Hill in Brisbane, which will receive more than $1.4 million for a new clubhouse. In the first round, 119 projects are being delivered, with 40 complete and 79 underway.
A Riverwood woman initially believed a call about her $10.2 million prize was a scam and blocked the organiser's number. Dream Home Art Union general manager Ben Sawkins then enlisted the Triple M Breakfast team to reach her. Hosts including former NRL star Beau Ryan visited her home to deliver the news in person. The prize package includes a mansion in Currumbin on the Gold Coast, $400,000 in gold bullion and a Land Rover Defender. Sawkins said ticket proceeds support Australian veterans and their families.
The Tamborine Mountain Bushwalkers recently completed a 15km coastal walk from Currumbin to Point Danger. Walkers saw whales and visited sculptures at the SWELL Sculpture Festival, with some stopping early to explore the artworks. The group says hiking can mean walking slowly and enjoying the surroundings and companions. Its next walk, on October 10, is a 10km return trip to Upper Ballanjui Falls from Binna Burra in Lamington National Park. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month.

A Mediterranean-inspired mansion called Villa Alcyone has gone on sale in Elanora on the Gold Coast, with its price expected to break the suburb record by millions. The home sits on a steep 890 square metre block at Bicton Court. Selling agent Nic Whitehead says it will attract buyers from nearby hill suburbs. The home won several building awards in 2026, including for residential design and sloping site use. Owner Theo Foukkare says the couple is already planning their next project.
