Nine sports presenter James Bracey and his wife Margot have separated after 13 years of marriage, the couple confirmed in a joint statement. They said their daughters, Matilda and Abigail, remain at the centre of their lives. James has reportedly moved out of the family home in Curl Curl. An insider says his heavy work schedule, which includes sport hosting and frequent travel, placed strain on the marriage. The insider also says the split may have affected his chances of being chosen as host of Today, a role that went to Tom Steinfort.

Northern Beaches Council says there will be no fireworks at Dee Why this New Year's Eve because no supplier could meet the requirements for an offshore barge display. Family-friendly entertainment will replace it, though details are yet to be confirmed. Fireworks will still go ahead at Manly Cove, Frenchs Forest Showground and Bayview. Local MP Michael Regan said he was disappointed and urged the council to look for an alternative site. Mayor Sue Heins said the community will still celebrate together across four locations.
