Do you know where to find an AED?

An online map shows 21 registered defibrillators across Cabonne towns, including Eugowra, Cudal, Manildra, Yeoval, Cumnock, Canowindra and Molong. NSW Ambulance chief executive Clare Beech said each minute without CPR cuts a cardiac arrest patient's survival chance by seven to 10 per cent. A new GoodSAM CPR playlist on Spotify matches songs to the recommended compression rate of 100 to 120 per minute. People aged 18 and over can register as GoodSAM responders without formal CPR qualifications. Device access varies, and map listings may be incomplete or outdated.

Mental health rolls though region

About 350 motorcyclists gathered at the Cumnock Bowling Club on Sunday for the Ride Blue Mental Health Awareness Ride. Six groups set out from locations across the region and arrived at the same time. Proceeds will fund hardship scholarships for Lifeline crisis support workers. Pharmacists from Life Pharmacy offered health checks, and Lifeline volunteers served barbecue meals. Three groups stopped in Cudal to visit local cafes, and rider Rory McTaggart praised the smooth organisation of the day.

Aqua fitness set to make waves

Aqua Fitness classes are set to return to pools in Molong, Manildra, Cumnock, Yeoval and Cudal. The low-impact program uses water resistance to build strength, mobility and cardiovascular health without straining joints. Local volunteers will first train in Dubbo to become instructors or refresh their qualifications. The sessions are free, though attendees pay standard pool admission. Anyone aged 16 or older can join after registering in advance.

Seeing the region through your lens

Residents of Cabonne are encouraged to participate in a photography competition celebrating the region's unique character. Organised by Regional Development Australia Central West, the initiative invites participants to capture everyday life, notable landmarks, and community figures. From Canowindra's picturesque streets to Molong's lively markets, the competition aims to showcase the Central West's diverse scenery and cultural essence. RDA Central West director Josh Gordon emphasised the importance of personal perspectives in portraying the region's identity. Entries must be submitted online by 16 October, with winners to be revealed in November.
