Council invites community feedback on renewable energy benefits policy

Rockhampton Regional Council is asking residents to comment on its Renewable Energy Community Benefit Scheme Policy until 29 November. The recently adopted policy covers the social impacts of solar farms, wind farms and battery storage projects. Under recent legislative changes, eligible projects must complete a Social Impact Assessment and sign a Community Benefit Agreement with Council before lodging a development application. An online survey takes about 10 minutes, and an information session will be held at Southside Library on 4 November.

Questions remain over plan to charge tourists for parking as consultation gears up

Shoalhaven City Council is asking residents for feedback on a proposal to charge tourists for parking at popular coastal sites. The idea was raised by a council finance committee and includes sites such as Mollymook Beach, Huskisson and Berry's Boongaree Park. Councillors voted to hold community consultation before deciding whether to develop a business case. A local business group supports paid parking if locals are exempt, while a surf club says parking is hard to find during holidays. Details of how the scheme would operate remain limited. An online survey closes at midnight on 4 November.

MidCoast residents invited to have their say on community wellbeing plan

MidCoast residents are invited to comment on a draft Community Wellbeing and Inclusion Action Plan 2026–2036, which covers the next ten years. The plan merges the Aboriginal Action Plan, Youth Strategic Plan, Disability Inclusion Action Plan and Ageing Strategy, and includes actions from the Cultural Plan. MidCoast Council says the consolidation reduces duplication and gives a clearer pathway for delivery. Residents, community groups and organisations can make submissions until Monday, 16 November 2026. Feedback will inform the final plan before Council considers its adoption.
