New certification helps farmers protect pollinators

A new Australian certification program is helping farmers protect the pollination services that support farm productivity. Pollinator Positive Farming gives farmers and land managers a practical framework to protect and support bees and other pollinators. Developed by the Wheen Bee Foundation, the program helps farmers assess how their properties support pollinators. It also helps them find practical ways to improve habitat, food sources and farm management practices.

The new certification scheme helping solar farms become havens for wildlife

A new certification scheme in the UK is encouraging solar farms to create better habitats for wildlife. Launched by Wild Power, the scheme awards certification to renewable energy sites that meet its biodiversity standards. So far, two UK solar farms have received it, including Dunmow in Essex. Thrive Renewables projects a 65% increase in habitat biodiversity units there, though gains will take years to mature. The UK aims to reach 45 to 47GW of solar capacity by 2030.

Your Next Great Read Might Be Certified ‘Organic’

A British startup has launched a certification for books written by humans, aiming to reassure readers amid growing concerns about AI-generated content. Five publishers have already signed up, with the first certified book expected by year's end. The initiative follows several scandals involving suspected AI use by authors, which have raised questions about trust in the publishing industry.
