Suzuki’s swift move to hybrid

Suzuki has added a hybrid version of its Swift small hatchback to its Australian range, priced from $24,490 driveaway. The Swift Hybrid uses a three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system and front-wheel drive. The reviewer praised its city handling and claimed fuel use of 4.0 litres per 100km, though a week-long test averaged just under 5.0 litres. The car needs premium unleaded fuel. It holds a three-star safety rating, and its infotainment system was criticised for slow response and weak audio.

Want an EV but don’t like Tesla’s CEO? Mazda has the answer with its Model 3 rival

Mazda has returned the 6 name on a fully electric rear-wheel drive liftback, the 6e, built in China by Changan Mazda. The reviewer found it pleasant to drive, well equipped and efficient, recording 14.5kWh per 100km over 516km. The GT model starts at $49,990 before on-road costs, undercutting the Tesla Model 3 Premium RWD at $54,900. The reviewer said the ride lacks the crispness expected from Mazda, but considered the 6e a strong rival to the Model 3.

The real reason Aussies can’t get enough of this tiny off-roader

Demand for the Suzuki Jimny remains strong in Australia, with buyers facing waits of six to eight months. Reviewer Patrick Jackson says the small off-roader is underpowered and dated, yet it is fun to drive. The 2026 GLX Automatic costs $40,990 driveaway, up from about $25,990 in 2018. Suzuki pulled the three-door model from sale in February 2025 to add autonomous emergency braking. The Jimny remains one of the best-selling light SUVs in the country.

2026 Toyota GR Corolla Review: Can Trick AWD Dethrone the Civic Type R?

A reviewer compares the 2026 Toyota GR Corolla GTS with the Honda Civic Type R, concluding the choice depends on preference. The Toyota starts at $67,990 before on-road costs, undercutting the Honda by roughly $11,000, and includes heated seats as standard. Its cabin is plasticky and cramped in the rear, with boot space of 213 litres. A 221 kW turbo three-cylinder delivers 400 Nm of torque, paired with a manual gearbox. The GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system and Torsen differentials give it outstanding all-weather grip.
