OpenAI has released dots, a personal AI assistant that keeps working in the background without being prompted. The assistant is available to ChatGPT subscribers on the Pro tier or higher, with plans starting at $100 a month. Once connected to a user's calendar, email, computer and other tools, it tries to help with their work and flag upcoming conflicts and deadlines. Alexander Embiricos, who leads OpenAI's enterprise product team, said the company is building more granular privacy controls. Testers have found its timing for alerts is not yet reliable, and it asks for permission often.
Researchers from security firm Claroc say Meta's Muse AI assistant exposed sensitive conversations shared through web links. They found 6,800 share links and opened a few hundred, revealing items including a loan application, a bank fraud alert and a staff vacation calendar. The links were easy to find because the conversation title appeared in the web address, which public DNS records captured. Meta said it has paused the sharing feature while it reviews the issue and considers changes. Earlier, a separate vulnerability reported by security expert Patrick Wardle had also been downplayed by Meta.
Yelp is adding a feature that lets app users have an AI voice agent call a restaurant to check wait times. Users enter their party size and phone number on a restaurant page, and the agent texts back the results. The update also adds an OpenTable integration for booking without leaving the app, personalised assistant memory, and custom lists. A new paid product, Smart Lead Reply, will reply to business customers for $30 per month.

Eugenia Kuyda has officially launched Wabi for all users, a multiplayer personal AI assistant that works like a messenger app. Twelve years after presenting an early chatbot called IO at TechCrunch Disrupt, she says the technology has caught up with her original vision. Users can keep several threads for different tasks and goals, and the agent builds custom apps within them. Kuyda says separate threads avoid the information overload of a single long conversation. Wabi is free for now, and its business model has not been settled. Kuyda said the company is in talks to raise more funds.
