Social impact director Matthew Bonson says the free program aims to improve mental health and offer positive older role models. Organisers hope the event will return next year, and ticket funds will go to the initiative.

Travis Head has called for Australia's batsmen to build stronger partnerships ahead of the third Test in Cape Town. He said the side has relied on one batter per innings rather than a collective effort. Head made 121 in Gqeberha, but Australia was bowled out for 99 in the innings that led to their loss. Head said the team has struggled to find partnerships in recent weeks, despite facing strong attacks. Head also said batting order makes little difference to his approach, and he expects his place as opener to stay for now.
Darwin is recording the strongest property market in the country, with house prices rising while other capital cities slump, according to Cotality. Cotality head of research Gerard Burg said limited supply and years of slow building have supported prices, and the number of buyers has fallen as more owners list their homes. Burg warned that a possible interest rate rise in November could bring Darwin into the wider national downturn. Darwin also remains expensive for renters, with median rents up about 11.6 per cent over the year to September and a vacancy rate of about 1.9 per cent.

A Northern Territory review into child protection found that domestic violence by the girl's father was the biggest risk to five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby. The Department of Children and Families recorded 14 notifications linked to family violence since 2020, five of them in the weeks before her death. The review made 45 recommendations, which the government has accepted. Sector representatives said the recommendations were similar to earlier ones. Experts warned that treating family violence as a child protection issue could lead to victims losing their children.
